Elizabeth Debicki reveals bizarre fashion faux pas at SAG Awards

Elizabeth Debicki shocked fans on Sunday when she accepted a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown.

The 33-year-old, seriale turke3 who won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, was quick to point out a bizarre detail about her outfit.

As she accepted her award, the Tenet star revealed her heels had snagged on her designer Armani dress – and she was now barefoot.

‚Truly, I was not expecting this. People say that and I really am not. I don’t really know what to say, so I’m just going to wing it. I don’t have any shoes on,‘ she began.

She then joked that as she didn’t have an acceptance speech prepared she was just going to say whatever came to mind.

‚I really, really love my job. About a week ago, I had the flu and this is what happens when I improv.

‚To my beautiful Crown family and so many of you here tonight. It is a joy to work with you. This job is such a gift. 

‚It’s my mum’s birthday. Happy birthday, Mum, thank you so much,‘ she added. 

‚I did have my shoes on but they weren’t fully on. I didn’t do a check on myself because I didn’t expect to win an award. So, I didn’t fully put my shoes on,‘ Elizabeth later told Extra TV.

‚When I got to the stage they were flopping all over the place so I kicked them off.‘

She beat out Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show, Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us, Keri Russell for The Diplomat and Sarah Snook in Succession to take home the coveted award.

Debicki dazzled as she arrived at the SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday. 

The Crown actress looked as elegant as ever in a pale blue sequin and lace gown with a backless design.

The delicate custom Armani Privé number featured mesh panels and a shimmering overlay with a jewel encrusted neckline.

After a taxing 118-day strike, the Screen Actors Guild honoured the best performers in film and television at the 30th annual SAG Awards.
